International Day of Zero Waste: UMKT Invites the Community to Realize a Healthy and Clean Campus Through Zero Waste Action

In commemoration of the International Day of Zero Waste on March 30, 2026, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT), through the Reputation & Data Office, invites the entire academic community to start taking small actions to reduce potential waste generation within the campus environment.

This step is part of UMKT's tangible commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to create a healthier, cleaner, and more beautiful campus ecosystem.

To realize this Zero Waste movement, there are 4 good and simple habits that the entire campus academic community can practice directly in their daily activities:

  1. Bring your own tumbler: Bring your own water bottle to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles.
  2. Start to use meal box: Start using your own food containers when purchasing food at the campus canteen.
  3. Use re-usable bag for purchasing: Use eco-friendly shopping bags that can be used repeatedly.
  4. Re-use the used paper for your tasks: Reuse scrap paper for assignments or operational notes where the blank space still allows.

Through this momentum, let us re-check our daily habits. How far have we practiced these good habits to maintain the comfort of our study and work spaces? Remember, every big change always begins with consistent small steps. Let’s work together to create a waste-free UMKT campus environment!
