UMKT Hosts East Kalimantan Muhammadiyah Halalbihalal: Strengthening Unity and Progressive Dawah

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda — Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) was honored to host the Halalbihalal gathering for the Muhammadiyah Regional Board of East Kalimantan on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The event, which serves as a cornerstone of post-Ramadan fellowship, took place in the grand meeting hall of Buildings A, B, and C at the UMKT campus.

The gathering was attended by a host of distinguished guests, including Andi Sofyan Hasdam (Member of the Regional Representative Council/DPD RI), the Vice Mayor of Samarinda, the Mayor of Bontang, and the Chairman of the East Kalimantan Muhammadiyah Regional Board. Also in attendance were the UMKT Board of Vice-Rectors, faculty and staff, as well as members of Muhammadiyah, Aisyiyah, and various autonomous regional organizations across East Kalimantan.

Centered on the theme "Strengthening Unity and Solidity of the Progressive Dawah Movement," the event acted as a call to action for members to unite their vision following the holy month of Ramadan.

Abdul Halim, Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs, underscored the spiritual significance of the gathering in mending relationships.

“Halalbihalal is a precious opportunity to strengthen our bonds. This event calls us to move forward in forgiveness, regardless of the disagreements or differences we may face in our daily lives,” Halim remarked.

During the session, Siswanto, Chairman of the East Kalimantan Muhammadiyah Regional Board, urged leadership at all levels — from regencies to sub-branches — to prioritize the satuMu data center project.

"I cordially ask our leadership at the regency and branch levels to assist members in completing the satuMu data collection. Accurate data is essential for our Central Board to provide clear and transparent information to the public," Siswanto emphasized.

The event featured an inspiring sermon by Saijan, a member of the Muhammadiyah Central Board. He encouraged the audience to deepen their faith and maintain a spirit of generosity.

"One does not need to be wealthy to be generous," Saijan noted. "You must believe that your charity is never lost and that every act of giving is a blessing in the eyes of Allah The Almighty."

The atmosphere grew festive with a series of traditional arts and martial arts (Tapak Suci) performances showcased by students from Muhammadiyah-affiliated schools across East Kalimantan. The day concluded with a warm reception and a communal brunch, fostering a sense of kinship among attendees.

Through this event, UMKT reaffirms its dual role as a higher education institution and a pillar of the Muhammadiyah community—not only fostering academic excellence but also serving as a hub for the ummah and a beacon for progressive dawah in East Kalimantan.
