UMKT Conducted the 14th Graduation Ceremony, 658 Graduates Ready to Serve the Community

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda - Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) celebrated a significant milestone on Apr. 15, by hosting its 14th Graduation Ceremony at the Convention Hall of the Kadrie Oening Sports Complex.
The prestigious event was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, the leadership of the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Provincial Boards of East Kalimantan, the Rector, Vice-Rectors, teaching and nonteaching staff. The hall was filled with the pride of graduates accompanied by their families.
The ceremony commenced with an opening address by the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Provincial Board (MPB) of East Kalimantan, Siswanto. In his speech, he emphasized the transformative power of education, noting that true exaltation comes through knowledge.
"Graduation is a critical step toward future success. It is vital to implement your knowledge in daily life while upholding the dignity of yourself, your family, and your alma mater," Siswanto stated.
During the university report, Abdul Halim, Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs, announced that 658 graduates were conferred their degrees during this 14th cohort. He also shared impressive statistics regarding UMKT’s growth, noting that the university now serves 10,760 active students across 25 departments, supported by a dedicated team of 268 lecturers.
Representing the graduating class, Lianawati Suwito, an Informatics Engineering graduate, delivered a motivating speech. She expressed deep appreciation for UMKT’s commitment to fostering humanitarian values and peaceful coexistence among its diverse student body.
UMKT Rector, Muhammad Musiyam, attributed the university's rapid expansion to the unwavering public trust, the support of the Muhammadiyah community, and the tireless dedication of the entire university staff.
"UMKT graduates must remain relevant, equipped with the necessary skills and a strong character to contribute meaningfully to society. As the saying goes: the best of humans are those who bring the most benefit to others," Rector Musiyam remarked.
Mohammad Adam Jerusalem, Vice Chairman of the CHERD of the Muhammadiyah Central Board, also motivated the graduates to carry forward scientific and Islamic values in their professional journeys. He reminded them that the ceremony is not an end, but the beginning of a long path of service to the community.
The 14th Graduation Ceremony reaffirms UMKT’s capability to produce graduates who possess both the intellectual excellence and moral integrity required to navigate modern challenges.
