UMKT International Student Invited as EducationUSA Speaker, Inspiring Youth to Go Global

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda – Austine Olouch Ooro, an international student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT), was featured as the keynote speaker at “AmeriTalks: International Exposure Experience,” hosted by EducationUSA Samarinda today, May 8, 2026. Held in the Meeting Room of the UMKT’s General Sudirman Building, the event drew students from across the city eager to learn about global opportunities.

Austine, a postgraduate Management student hailing from Kenya, shared his rich journey of studying and working across countries, including experiences in France, Zambia, and Rwanda. He emphasized that these life-changing opportunities are within reach for anyone armed with perseverance and consistency.

During his session, Austine motivated the audience to look beyond their current horizons.

“Always trust the process and fuel your life with ambition. With dedication, your global dreams can truly become a reality,” Austine stated.

Beyond professional advice, Austine added a touch of humor by sharing his unique cultural experiences in Indonesia. He admitted to being "stunned" by the local penchant for sambal, noting how Indonesians seem unable to enjoy a meal without the iconic spicy condiment.

The core of Austine’s message was a call to action: he urged the youth of Samarinda to contribute to their local communities while maintaining a global mindset. He stressed that success requires the courage to leave one's comfort zone and engage with the world.

“Success is not instantaneous. It is the result of consistent effort, global interaction, and the bravery to seize every available opportunity,” he remarked.

This event highlights UMKT’s ongoing commitment to broadening its students' international perspectives, empowering the next generation to compete and thrive on the global stage with confidence.
