UMKT Interviewed Overseas Student Applicants from Four Countries

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda - Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) conducted admission interviews for international student applicants on, Monday, May 11, 2026. Held at the Office for Cooperation and International Affairs (OCIA), the session was led by the Director and Vice-Director of OCIA, alongside the Head of Public Relations and Admissions Office, and the Head of the Psychology Study Program.

Rahmatullah Ayu Hasmiati, Director of OCIA, noted that this cohort of applicants includes candidates from Afghanistan, Nigeria, Morocco, and Bangladesh. These prospective students have applied for various study programs, including Civil Engineering, Informatics Engineering, and the Management Postgraduate Program.

One of the applicants, Muhammad Ibrahim from Nigeria, underwent a specialized interview with Rusandi Noor, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, regarding his application for the Bachelor of Civil Engineering program.

Candidates were comprehensively interviewed about their application, including personal backgrounds, motivations, their study and research plans, and cultural adaptations, including their willingness to learn Indonesian language and the ability to navigate a multicultural environment.

To support these international talents, UMKT offers several scholarship schemes. These include tuition fee waivers, living allowances, health insurance, and free access to university housing (dormitories).

Selected candidates will receive their official results within one week of the interview date.

These interviews reassert UMKT’s firm stance on internationalization. By welcoming students from diverse backgrounds, the university continues to foster cross-cultural understanding and overseas academic collaborations, positioning itself as a competitive hub for higher education in the global arena.
