Faculty of Nursing at UMKT Signs International Partnership Agreement with the University of Utah

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda — The Faculty of Nursing (FIK) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) has strengthened its international outreach by hosting a guest lecture and signing a cooperation agreement with the University of Utah, Asia Campus, on Wednesday, August 12. The event, held in a hybrid format at the Main Hall in Building E and virtually via Zoom, was attended by university leadership and faculty members.

Jay Jordan and Brandy Bippes from the University of Utah served as the guest lecturers for the session.

Tri Wahyuni highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with international educational institutions to enhance the quality of academic programs. Tri also expressed hope that this partnership would create new opportunities for faculty members to expand their knowledge and professional networks.

“International collaboration is an essential step for our faculty to continuously improve academic standards and deliver better learning experiences. Amid rapid technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI), educators and students must upgrade their skills to use technology wisely and support learning and research more effectively,” Tri said.

The event also served to promote the responsible use of technology in academic contexts. AI can be a valuable tool to advance education and research when used ethically, without replacing critical thinking, integrity, and core academic competencies.

Through this guest lecture and partnership agreement, the Faculty of Nursing at UMKT and the University of Utah aim to build sustainable collaboration in education, research, and faculty development. This step highlights the faculty’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global reach and elevating the quality of nursing education.
