3,700 Freshmen Entertained by Stand-Up Comedy at UMKT Orientation Gala Night

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda — Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) successfully hosted its Orientation Gala Night on Friday, August 28, at the Campus Field. The event marked the end of the orientation period, bringing together 3,700 freshmen alongside university leadership, faculty members, and institutional representatives.

The evening opened with traditional dance and music performances by the student activity group SUNTA. This was followed by a musical set from faculty members across various departments and an awards ceremony honoring outstanding faculties, campus organizations, and students.

The Rector of the University, Muhammad Musiyam expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of all orientation activities leading up to the gala, while encouraging incoming students to make the most of their academic journey.

“There are three pillars to success: acquiring expertise, developing soft skills, and building strong personal values. You will cultivate all three during your time at UMKT,” Muhammad Musiyam stated.

The highlight of the event was a stand-up comedy routine by Yono Bakrie, a UMKT alumnus who has established a career as a national comedian and actor. His performance provided lighthearted entertainment after an intensive orientation schedule and left a memorable impression on the audience.

The gala concluded the orientation program and officially launched the academic journey for the newest members of the extended UMKT community.
