UMKT Welcomes the Visit of the Public Diplomacy Officer from the U.S. Embassy

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda — Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan (UMKT) welcomed John T. Slover, Public Diplomacy Officer of the United States Embassy in Jakarta, on Monday (November 17, 2025). UMKT was the first institution visited by Slover during his public diplomacy tour in Kalimantan Island.

Upon arrival at UMKT, Slover was greeted by Muhammad Musiyam, the Rector of UMKT, accompanied by the Vice Rector I, Abdul Halim, and the Director of the International Affairs Office (KUI), Anita Shalehah. The meeting discussed opportunities for academic collaboration, international programs, and strengthening the relationship between UMKT and the U.S. Embassy.

After discussing with the university leadership, John continued with a lunch agenda before visiting EducationUSA Samarinda located in Building G of UMKT. There, he conducted a podcast recording session and met with EducationUSA volunteers to discuss study opportunities in the United States and the active role of youth in educational diplomacy.

This visit is expected to open opportunities for closer cooperation between UMKT and educational institutions in the United States, while also strengthening international exposure for UMKT students and academic community.
