FST UMKT and UiTM Host International Seminar on Sustainable STEM and Industry 4.0

umkt.ac.id, Samarinda – The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) held an international seminar today, April 14, 2026, titled “Advancing Sustainable STEM and Engineering Innovation: Industry 4.0 and Global Impact.” The event, hosted at the Building E Auditorium, marks a significant milestone in academic collaboration between UMKT and Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The seminar brought together distinguished guests, faculty members, and students from various FST departments. To provide a global perspective, the faculty invited three experts from UiTM as keynote speakers: Siti Rudhziah Binti Che Balian, Siti Aisyah Binti Zawawi, and Syazuan Bin Abdul Latip. These experts engaged in an insightful panel session alongside FST lecturers Rusandi Noor, Sigiet Haryo Pranoto, and Binyamin.

Rusandi Noor, Dean of FST UMKT, explained that the seminar is a direct result of the long-standing relationship between the two institutions. He emphasized that such collaborations are strategic steps toward broadening academic horizons and bolstering UMKT’s international network.

“This event is a testament to the strong cooperation between UMKT and UiTM. We hope all participants can gain valuable insights from the knowledge shared during this session,” Rusandi remarked.

The seminar focused on the development of sustainable STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to address the complex challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The speakers shared their expertise on technological innovation, cutting-edge research, and the practical implementation of sustainability in both the industrial and educational sectors.

Syazuan Bin Abdul Latip, representing UiTM, highlighted that the partnership encompasses more than just formal agreements — it is about the exchange of expertise and the enrichment of perspectives.

“UiTM’s primary goal is to build sustainable relationships through the exchange of opinions and expertise. We designed this event to be an interactive, two-way communication, and we are pleased to see the students’ active participation,” he noted.

Beyond theoretical learning, the seminar served as a platform for students to engage directly with international experts. This interaction is expected to upgrade their academic capacity and provide them with a more global outlook on their respective fields.

For the Faculty of Science and Technology, this seminar represents a concrete step toward the internationalization of education. By fostering sustainable innovation, UMKT continues to strengthen its role as a higher education institution that delivers positive, global-scale impacts.
